I am not a morning person so one can only imagine, I am not a breakfast person either! But, we all know the saying –
“breakfast is the most important meal of the day”
– and it’s true! For everyone, but most important, for the kids.
Eating breakfast refuels your child’s tank and gives them the energy they need to go through their day. Without breakfast, they get tired, cranky, and will struggle (aka you will see those cranky behaviors that us parents know so well and love so much.)
While the kids love nothing more than sugary crud for breakfast, here are some breakfast foods to fuel their day and keep them going strong all day long (or at least until lunch!)
{And easy because I am not spending hours making breakfast before the kids head out to school or to start their day. Remember the opening – I am not a morning person!}

- Fruit – they are easy to grab and go
- Whole grain cereal or at least the less sugary and dye filled cereal – think Cheerios, Kix – the boring, plain cereal that the kids will eat, but aren’t their first choice (you know, because they aren’t sweet)
- Whole grain waffles (my kids are frozen waffle addicts!)
- Overnight oats Kadenn will eat oatmeal, but not the other two so it may be something to try or something that your kids won’t touch.
- Bagels – whole grain bagels would be best, but honestly, bagels are a great item that can be a grab and go
- Toast – top it with some peanut butter will give them a good protein start for the morning!
- Eggs – I love eggs because they’re so versatile. Keep some hard-boiled eggs in the fridge for a grab and go OR you can use the Tupperware Microwave Breakfast Maker to make eggs in the microwave in just minutes.
- Smoothies – they are quick, easy, and healthy. Although, you can take it one step easier and purchase Stonyfield smoothies for a super easy grab and go. (You can purchase individual or 4 packs in peach, strawberry, strawberry banana, and wildberry.)
- Yogurt – my personal favorite is Stonyfield Greek Strawberry yogurt topped with granola! Yum!
- Muffins – is there anything better than a muffin?
- Pancakes – we loves breakfast for dinner and then we freeze the leftovers. Pop them in the microwave or toaster and BAM! Instant breakfast!
- French toast – same with the pancakes! Freeze the leftovers (or make a couple extra) and you have instant breakfast!
- Breakfast sandwiches – take a day on the weekend and make some breakfast sandwiches, wrap them up and freeze them so you can just microwave one on your way out the door!
It doesn’t have to be difficult to make breakfast for the kids – so easy!
I think out of the entire list, oatmeal is the only one that all three of my kids won’t eat and I would have to say the smoothies or waffles are their favorites! (The Stonyfield smoothies come in handy after school too!)
Honestly, as long as they get the ever so important breakfast to start their day, I am a happy mommy! And the easier the better for this non-morning mom!
What are your kids’ quick go to breakfast favorites?
