Getting Tone with Barre Classes at Pure Barre East Gilbert {+Giveaway}

August 29, 2015 By Leila Leave a Comment

Disclosure

One of my big goals, both personally and for my family, is to get healthier; eating right and being more active.

Now that winter is coming (which in Arizona really means fall for the next 6 months), I am hoping to get us all out and moving more often as a family, but also focusing on my own personal health goals.

With that, I am taking some barre classes.

Barre Class

What are Barre Classes?

According to the Pure Barre website: Pure Barre is the fastest, most effective way to change your body.

Using small isometric movements, Pure Barre is a 55 minute full-body workout that lifts your seat, tones your thighs, abs and arms and burns fat in record-breaking time. The Pure Barre technique works each muscle group to fatigue, then stretches them back out to create long, lean physiques without bulk. The technique is low-impact, making it safe and ideal for clients of all ages and fitness backgrounds.

Pure Barre is a low-impact workout and can be done by women of all shapes, sizes, and ages. As long as you can hold on to the ballet barre, you can do Pure Barre!

Pure Barre

Let me tell you. I am a plus size girl. I am out of shape (hence the goal of getting into better shape and healthier lifestyle.) I attended my first barre class last night. Grant you, it was a 30 minute class versus the usual hour long class, but I did it (well, almost all of it.)

I will say, I was the biggest girl in the entire studio, but I didn’t feel intimidated.

I had to take breaks at some points because it is hard. I won’t lie. Your arms and legs shake. It’s tough work.

There was a part that I could not comfortably do and no one made me feel less for having to sit that part out.

If you know your own body, barre really is something that I would recommend. If there are times you need a break or parts your body is not comfortable with – don’t push it. Listen to your body.

I will tell you, I am sore today. Muscles I didn’t know I had are definitely burning but, no pain, no gain, right?

The actual work out itself isn’t something you would expect to be difficult or painful, but you use muscles that you don’t work out on a daily basis. The focus is on arms, thighs, seat, and abs. An all around body workout.
