Dress your Kiddo with Their Favorite Phrases with lilspeak!

June 12, 2015 By Leila 14 Comments

Disclosure

I was approached by a guy – a married guy with two girls, ages 4 and 2 – who was a Marine Corp veteran who served a tour in Iraq (thank you for your service.)

Additionally, he owns a business – lilspeak – that was inspired by his children, and works with an artist who is a Navy veteran (and a thank you to you too for your service.)

His t-shirts and onesies are so cute – I couldn’t resist!

The Concept:

The idea came up while sitting around a dining table in Nevada City, CA. Kids often say things that we as parents don’t understand or accept. Instead, we fantasize about the things that we want our kids to say, so much that we dress them in clothing with cute sayings, of course none which they ever say. Through awareness and shared experiences, as parents we can begin to learn to accept the things our kids say, so much that we can feel comfortable and proud to dress them in clothing that says what they really say.

The People:

The concept was constructed by two people, Nate and Josh. Nate is a father of two young daughters. Josh is a psychology doctoral student. Illustrations are by Dan (US Navy Veteran) and Justin & Laura of Bell Jar Creative. Justin & Laura are parents of an 18 month old boy.

I love the designs that lilspeak offers! They are definitely something that has come out of the mouths of my babes at one time or another (and still do!)

They are perfect for little ones to wear and are sure to cause a chuckle!

Be sure to follow us on Instagram so you can see our shirts when we get them!

Really happy to hear that you love this design. It was inspired by my 4 year old daughter, who says that she is ready for chores, but gets tired half way through finishing, typically when she is bored with working and wants to go back to watching her shows.

I’m happy that you like this design. I think that it is funny, when kids refuse to eat all day until it is time for bed, then suddenly they are “soooo hungry”

The “why” shirt is one of my favorites, not only because of the design but also because my daughters endlessly asking “why?” now makes me laugh, where I used to get frustrated. Every time they ask “why?” I just think of the shirt.

‘No’ or ‘Uh Oh’ are my favorite, but if they offered ‘Goggie!’ or ‘Mine!’ I’d buy one right now 😀

We have a “mine” design with a tiger drawing, it is very cute. It will be the first release of new illustrations by Bell Jar Creative. It will be released over the 4th of July weekend.
