Recipe for an Epic Family Movie Night

June 22, 2017 By Leila 1 Comment

Every once in awhile, there is nothing I love more than taking it easy and having an epic family movie night (especially after a particularly long, stressful day!)

Grab a movie, sit back, snag the snacks, and just relax. Unwind. No crying. No whining. No fighting. Just relaxation, family, and quiet.

I think I have to admit, those are my favorite types of days.

As you can imagine, a family of 5 can be a little difficult to wrangle for an epic family movie night, but I am sharing my hidden treasures –

Tips for an Epic Family Movie Night

Recipe for an Epic Family Movie Night

1. Movies. We typically get 2 movies – one for the kids to enjoy and one for mommy and daddy to enjoy after the kids go to bed.

We don’t have cable, we have the Roku with Amazon Prime, Hulu, and Netflix. While we can usually find a movie, we also tend to “outsource” our rentals.

I recently discovered Pure Flix which is a faith and family movie rental subscription service similar to the Netflix and Hulu subscription services, that works with our Roku!

Pure Flix even has a great selection of family friendly movies to enjoy during your movie night!

Be sure to check out our post on appropriate movies for sensitive children, too!

2. Snacks. Hubby loves his popcorn, but our last movie night? We had a sundae bar!

We headed to the grocery store, grabbed some ice cream and let the kids pick out their own toppings! We had chocolate syrup, sour gummies, and sprinkles.

I even shared a post the other night on family movie night snacks for you to try because we all know; you need good snacks for the perfect family movie night!

3. Curl up spot. Big fluffy sleeping bags, blankets, and pillows are must haves to get all comfy cozy before starting the movie!

We usually pull the big throw pillows from the couch and grab our favorite blankets. Of course, you can’t forget…

4. Comfy clothes! Throw on the jammies. Take off the work clothes. Momma, take off that bra. Get comfy in your favorite comfy clothes.

All of the above make for the perfect family movie night – a night to unwind, relax and spend time with your family.

Tell me, what is your favorite movie to watch with your family? Currently, we have been watching Trolls or Moana.
